In the afternoon, you will be met by a crew member of the Rendez-Vous at the designated meeting point in either Paris, Dijon or Geneva. From here, relax as you are chauffeured to Rendez-Vous, moored in the village of Fleurey-sur-Ouche. A traditional champagne welcome and introduction to the crew awaits you, before your first gourmet dinner aboard.
Monday, Day 2: Discover an Authentic "Domaine Bourguignon"
Travel: Fleury-sur-Ouche to Gissey-sur-Ouche --- Meals: Breakfast, lunch, & dinner onboard
This morning's cruise is the perfect time to laze in the hot tub on deck, or take a leisurely stroll or gentle pedal on the towpath. This afternoon, enjoy a wine tour in the world-famous vineyards of the Cotes de Beaune during an escorted excursion to an authentic "Domaine Bourguignon". Discover a private wine cellar built in the 16th century by the Cistercien monks, and then sip, sample, and savor at a winetasting. Return to the Rendez-Vous and relax with drinks and dinner onboard.
Tuesday, Day 3: Explore a Magnificent Medieval Castle
Travel: Gissey-sur-Ouche to La Bussiere-sur-Ouche --- Meals: Breakfast, lunch & dinner onboard
Relax on deck and admire the beautiful scenery during this morning's cruise. This afternoon, your Tour Guide escorts you to Chateauneuf-en-Auxois, the village perched atop the hill overlooking the Canal. Chateauneuf's imposing position refers to its history as a 15th century fortress. A tour of the Chateau reveals architectural details and timeworn relics which speak to the deprivations and decadence so prevalent in France's history. Return to the barge and enjoy an evening stroll or bicycle ride on the towpath as Chef prepares tonight's dinner.
Wednesday, Day 4: The Best of Burgundy in Beaune
Travel: Moored at La Bussiere-sur-Ouche --- Breakfast & dinner onboard, lunch ashore
Begin the day with a drive through the Cote d'Or vineyards to the charming town of Beaune, the region's wine capital, for a tour of the Hospice de Beaune, an immaculately preserved Medieval hospital built in the 15th century. Afterwards, browse Beaune's lively pedestrian area, lined with shops and cafes. Enjoy lunch at a local bistro, and then attend a mustard tasting, where the methods of making this Burgundian treat are revealed. Return to Rendez-Vous for dinner and drinks.
Thursday, Day 5: The Iconic Vineyards of Burgundy
Travel: La Bussiere-sur-Ouche to Pont d’Ouche --- Meals: Breakfast, lunch & dinner aboard
As Rendez-Vous cruises this morning, explore the towpath with a tranquil traipse or gentle pedal. An afternoon visit to Clos de Vougeot reveals where Cistercian monks made wine in the 12th century. The ancient Clos now serves as the headquarters of the wine society Chevaliers du Tastevin, who annually award special labels to the finest Cote d'Or vintages. Discover the preserved presses from which these Burgundian wines were first produced. A private tasting at a local cellar follows. Chef presents dinner onboard.
Friday, Day 6: Destination Dijon
Travel: Pont d'Ouche to Vandenesse-en-Auxois --- Meals: Breakfast, lunch & dinner aboard
The town of Dijon offers a pleasurable assault of the senses. "Les Halles”, the region's food market, presents a panorama of colorful produce; mustard jars are cheerfully displayed in boutiques; and public gardens are vibrant with greenery and scenery. Shop, stroll, and sip your way through this small city brimming with authentic French life. Return to the barge for an afternoon cruise to Vandenesse-en-Auxois, while the towpath beckons for one last leisurely stroll or gentle pedal. Enjoy a final feast at the Captain's Dinner.
Saturday, Day 7: A Sad Farewell
Travel: Transfer from Vandenesse-en-Auxois -- Meals: Breakfast onboard
After breakfast, you will be chauffeured to the designated drop off point in either Paris, Dijon or Geneva.
